Junk Ball
Over the past two years, my friend Justin and I have grown to love Junk Ball, a version of Wiffle Ball with a twist. The twist is the ball which has holes around the ball and you can throw it differently than the regular size wiffle ball. You can throw the junk ball like a baseball and its much faster then the Wiffle Ball.
Junk Ball, is played like baseball – very simple. We use "ghost runners" and only hit and throw. We play 7 innings and the field is laid out with cones. I’ve added some pictures to this blog to show the scorecard of our game and other pictures.

I’m not sure how you could compare the two players. One can hit while the other can play defense. This should be interesting.
27 days left….
Patriots lost due to lack of defense in the 1st half. Less then a few minutes reminaing, they deciede to play "perventive defense" whatever that means, it opens the door for the Colts to take advantage of that and march down the field and in the end win the game. This *****. However, with the Pats lose, I can finally shift my mind to the Red Sox as they get ready for this years campeign. It should be an exciting one with many changes for the start of the new year. One things hasn’t change is my scorecards that will be shown!
Congrats
Congrats to the Tigers for making the pose season. They earned there trip to the WS and wish the team and their fans the best of luck!
Taking a small break….
This week, I’ve been on vacation with my family in Northern New Hampshire in the White Mountains. The Internet access is very limited here and I don’t have tools to upload my scorecards from this week. However, I assure all that I have two pending games that I’ve listened to using my XM radio. The games are from earlier in the week with key match-ups. Those scorecards will be uploaded next week.
For the remaining of the season, I’m going to focus on key match-ups because this is the "time of the season" where key match-ups are important because they will determine who moves on to play in October and who signs up for a round of 18.
Enjoy blogging and this time of the season!!!

Does everything have to be about money?
Good Morning,
I realize that in today’s world, money seems to be the important material in peoples lives. You gotta have the money to be happy and "I’m not interested in making others happy just as long as I’m happy". That’s the mentally that I here either in newspapers or in small conversation with the locals in downtown Boston.
I’m referring to an article from the Boston Globe Web Site that focused on the fact that residents who live in the out lying areas of Metro Boston who in recent years have could watch 28 games for free in Channel 38. Well, that’s not going to happen this year and probably beyond as the television games will not be on cable. Which means that if you don’t have cable then you can’t watch the baseball games. The only shot you have is watching the Red Sox if they are playing in a national televised game such as on Fox.
"The move was financially motivated"
Does everything we do in today’s world have to be about money! I feel sad that those residents that have been following the their hometown team for 50 years suddenly can’t watch their team play baseball because they don’t have cable! that’s awful and clearly, Tom Werner and McGrail are thinking the present and beyond but I think you can’t forget those to enjoy a evening sitting at home during the summer watching our nationals past time for free!
During the summer, when I’m working in Boston and talk with folks who are in their 70s, they have mentioned about when Yaz, Williams was playing and nice it was to listen and eventually watch those games. Well, they can’t do it now because people are greedy and want money.
I’m torn with this subject at hand because there is all ways an alternative to watching the baseball games. You can listen to them for free if you have a AM radio.
If you have a good radio broadcasting crew doing the games, if you understand how the game of baseball is played and can picture the game being played in your head, then you can follow along via the radio. Granted it is not the same as watching the game but I’ve all ways enjoyed listening to the games on radio because I can do other things while listening to the games.

"Keep Walking" – jw
Ready for the baseball season to begin!
Good evening to you all,
Hope all is well with everyone out in the baseball world. Up here in the Metro Boston area, we are expecting some heavy snowfall with close a 1.5 feet of snow! But with the snow happening over night and into tomorrow, that doens’t stop any baseball fan from talking, thinking about the wonderful sport of baseball. I mean, can you believe that in just five days, sports shows will be interviewing players from the minors leage fields in Flordia and Arizona. The newspapers will be putting together stories about first, second, third, etc training days with the WBC in the backround.
This afternoon, I was putting together teams rosters for the International league to use for scorekeeping baseball games. My hope is that I can attend several Pawtucket Red Sox and score them. Over the winter, I was thinking about getting a package for this year but I elected not take the offer but wait until next year and see what happened.

Half way point….
Around Christmas time is when I consider the half-way point of the off-season. After the new year has come and gone, there only about a month left until the baseball fields in Flordia and Arizona begining to feel the presence of baseball players with new and old teams.
I also want to wish all a Merry Christmas and a joyous New Year and looking forward to the 2006 baseball seaosn!!!!!
Word of Thanks….
Wanted to take this time to mentioned that I hope all enjoyed their holiday with their family and friends. All of us has something to be thankful. For me, it is my family and friends that I am thankful for. They have been there when I needed a shoulder to lean on and someone to talk with. Finally, this is a baseball blog site and we should be very thankful for the sport we all love during the summer and even in the off season. I’m sure people are waiting for February 16th to roll around where we get to see our favorite team put on their uniforms for the first time since the previous season and walk out to the field in sunny Florida or Arizona!
Happy Thanksgiving!
